I am going to be a transfer student at Pratt this fall for fashion design. I was wondering if you had advice about living. I am currently in the city looking for places to live in the summer. I was looking west of Clinton Hill, Williamsburg, maybe Park Slope? Or is the student housing during the school year a good option? Price wise it seems like a good idea. If I decide on student housing then I can just find a sublet for summer. Thanks

there are a lot of great options for living at Pratt. i lived in the dorms for 2.5 years before scoring my apartment/studio that i’ve been living & working in for over 3 years now. You can get a private single (sometimes with it’s own bathroom!) or live in a triple, it’s totally up to you. there are lots of options and the buildings are not that terrible. of course, getting a place nearby and off campus is ideal.
I live in Clinton Hill (right near Pratt) and i love my neighborhood so much, it’s getting better & better every single day! because you’ll be doing so much work, i wouldn’t suggest getting a place that is more than walking distance away (williamsburg, park slope) save that for after graduation, you’ll be happy when you’re in the studio at 2am and don’t want to make the trek home. hope that helped!
