First time to new york? it probably shows. you’re probably going to visit canal street and you’re probably going to pay way too much money for a stolen or, even worse, terribly-tacky-knocked-off purse. when you are shopping, and not just on canal, you should know that you, as the buyer, have much more power than you are aware. if there is not a marked price on an item, feel free to haggle. bring them way way down, they’ll bring you back up but then you have a lot of negotiating space between the low and high.
don’t be afraid because honestly, all they want is your money and they’ll take what they can get! be aware of your surroundings and aware of where you are and the type of person you are dealing with. do not go into back alleys for ‘better items’. nothing down there is that good, really. when they whisper “gucci prada louis dior” be careful. if they’re whispering it, it’s probably a secret, and secrets are no good. real designs live in big loud stores with big loud names on big loud streets! good luck out there!
xoxo, julie!
