Happy Tutorial Tuesday! Learn how i carved my pumpkin!

Tools Needed:

Wine (for drinking)
idea (of what you’re carving)
Paring knives- the smaller the better (for carving)
large soup spoon (for gutting)
bowl (for guts)
pen/sharpie (to draw your idea on the pumpkin)
pumpkin (to carve)

optional: your best friend to carve with, super glue, confetti, yarn & a couple dozen 1” nails.

so, i started with an idea of carving lips onto my pumpkin after wiping my lipstick on a napkin at dinner that night and was psyched. as i was drawing the lips on the pumpkin (with a pen, not sharpie-less visible lines) i realized that i did not need to have a circular opening at the top of my pumpkin and by design default, carved a heart around the stem. i opened her up and scooped out all of the seeds/guts with a large soup spoon.

i cut out around the heart, cleaning up edges by scraping the paring knife along the sides of  the design. my pumpkin needed more, and i saw something online a couple months back (wish i could remember) about stringing your pumpkin, so i decided to string my lips! i took tiny 1” nails and pushed them all around the design.  starting in one corner of the lips, i strung my lips up and down, back and forth, until i was happy with the amount of coverage.

i really wanted something to sparkle, so i put down a layer of super glue on the top heart of the pumpkin and put down a thick layer of confetti (i usually keep a vase full of it, just in case. seriously) when i was done glittering & stringing the pumpkin i was done, and so proud of my pumpkin. this is the most creative one i’ve ever done…until next year! woo hoo!
